A Pithy & Enlightening Q&A with a Publishing Business Conference Speaker

Our Publishing Business Conference & Expo kicks off in just under four weeks, and we thought you'd like to start to get to know some of our speakers. We'll be running some short Q&As with speakers touching on some of the points on which they'll be speaking, starting today with Ian Singer, VP, Group Publisher, Library Journals, Media Source, Inc. He will be participating in a panel entitled "Overcoming Showrooming: Discoverability in Libraries and Bookstores." One thing this panel will cover is the way that libraries affect book sales.
We asked Mr. Singer: Can you tell us one surprising thing most people don't realize about library users and their book-buying habits?
His reply: Library Users tend to buy books they borrow from the library at very high rates. [This is] presumably to maintain a favorite book or give as a gift.
