Two big announcements this afternoon:
In the U.K., Granta has just announced its prestigious, once-a-decade Best of Young British Novelists list:

- Sarah Hall
- Steven Hall
- Joanna Kavenna
- Benjamin Markovits
- Nadifa Mohamed

- Ross Raisin
- Sunjeev Sahota
- Taiye Selasi
- Kamila Shamsie
- Zadie Smith
- David Szalay
- Adam Thirlwell
- Evie Wyld
Work by these writers will be collected in Granta issue 123, which will be published tomorrow.
And stateside, The Pulitzer Prize for fiction, which went unawarded last year to much hand-wringing in the publishing industry, will be awarded this year.
The winner, announced just a few minutes ago, is The Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson, published by Random House.
The 2013 Pulitzer winners for journalism, letters, music and drama were all announced today, with The New York Times earning four nods, and the Ft. Lauderdale Sun Sentinel taking home the coveted Public Service award.
