Thomson-Shore to Manufacture Books for Leading Global Publisher Bloomsbury Publishing Plc.
NOVEMBER 15, 2012 - Dexter, Mich. -- Thomson-Shore, a book manufacturer specializing in short- to medium-run digital and offset book printing, binding and publishing services, has entered into an agreement to serve as the preferred U.S.
book manufacturer for Bloomsbury Publishing Plc. The agreement leverages Thomson-Shore's unique ability to print via both digital and traditional platforms.
"Thomson-Shore has long supplied Bloomsbury USA with Academic books of a high standard in double-quick time, and I am delighted to be extending their remit to include the manufacture of our Trade list," said Louise Cameron, Group Production Director, Bloomsbury. "Our companies share a commitment to producing beautiful books in a cost- and time-efficient manner so I believe we are a good fit."
Established in 1986, Bloomsbury is a leading independent publishing house with offices in London, New York, Sydney and New Delhi. In the U.S., Bloomsbury publishes a range of popular books including The National Book Award-winning novel Salvage the Bones, Deadly Spin, Logicomix, Kitchen Confidential, and the Booker Prize-winning novel The Finkler Question.
Its bestselling children's list includes the Princess Academy series, the Perfect Chemistry series, The Need series, After Obsession, The Frog Princess, and the exciting debut novel Throne of Glass. Key Academic titles are Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Just Love, and the recent The Bloomsbury Anthology of Aesthetics.
"Thomson-Shore beat much larger book manufacturers to win this work with Bloomsbury, and that's a real testament to the quality and service that sets
the company apart from the competition," said Kevin Spall, CEO, Thomson-Shore. "Bloomsbury appreciates that, like most of the large book manufacturers in the business, Thomson-Shore can deliver a range of manufacturing options, quickly and at-scale, but, unlike those large manufacturers, we're customer-centric and focused on the details."
"This contracts tops off a year of tremendous growth for Thomson-Shore; our digital printing is up 30 percent from last year, eBooks are up 180 percent and our specialty, hand-binding services are up 20 percent," Spall added. "The entire team has worked on creating new, innovative manufacturing processes to accommodate this growth, and has created a quality platform for future growth at Thomson-Shore."
