Copia, the socially-driven digital content platform that provides customized learning solutions for students, educators and publishers, today announced two major partnerships in Australia, where it is the leading partner in the region for eBook aggregation and distribution. A strategic partner of the Australian Publishers Association (APA), Copia is powering the eBook component of TitlePage Plus, a new subscription-based supply chain solution for the book industry. The service allows stores to scale their offering while helping them to efficiently access and sell a wide variety of printed and eBook titles. By offering a white-labeled (WL) version of Copia to bookshops, TitlePage Plus empowers retailers to reach consumers in the most interactive and relevant ways possible. The reading app, powered by Copia, is available for free for consumers across an assortment of platforms – including iOS, Android and Blackberry devices as well as directly from Windows and Mac desktops.
In a concerted action, a global group of publishers and publishers' associations achieved an important success in the fight against copyright piracy on the Internet. Overcoming significant technical and legal obstacles, the publishers were able to locate the alleged operators of two high-traffic rogue Web sites, the sharehoster service, www.ifile.it, and the link library, www.library.nu, and to serve judicial cease-and-desist orders to them. These sites have now shut down.
Cambridge University Press’s new integrated eBook and digital content offering, University Publishing Online, launched yesterday.
University Publishing Online (universitypublishingonline.org) provides aggregated content from the Mathematical Association of America (based in Washington D.C.), Liverpool University Press, Foundation Books (based in India) and Cambridge University Press. Access to content from Edinburgh University Press and Nottingham University Press will be available from early 2012.
Springer and T.M.C. Asser Press, a prominent Dutch specialist publisher for international law, have signed an exclusive agreement on their future collaboration. Under the agreement, Springer is to handle the marketing and distribution of T.M.C. Asser Press’s English language book program.

Coutts Information Services—-a book-supply, collection-management and shelf-ready services provider-—has announced an agreement with Stanford University. The Stanford University Library has acquired collections of eBooks from Coutts, to be hosted on the MyiLibrary platform. MyiLibrary.com is an Ingram Digital Group company, a global provider of digital content accession, storage, management and delivery services to publishers and other content owners. Researchers and academics who use the Internet for research now have more resources from which to choose. Cambridge University Press has entered an agreement with online academic library Questia Media Inc. to add 1,000 of its titles to Questia's online collection. The agreement expands the library's collection to 50,000 academic textbooks. Troy Williams, president and chief executive officer of Questia Media, notes that while a large amount of public domain material (material published before 1923) exists online , making copyrighted material available to researchers is "a pressing need that Questia is addressing."
