Press Release: Introducing the New Imprint at Skyhorse Publishing, Launching for Fall 2014
Skyhorse Publishing is proud to announce the launch of Carrel Books, a new imprint featuring titles for the public library market. The Carrel list will include categories of most interest to libraries, including medicine/health, history, biography/memoir, business/careers, and more. Carrel will launch in fall 2014 with an initial list of 20-30 titles. Carrel titles will be available to libraries in both print and ebook editions.
Tony Lyons, Skyhorse president and publisher, commented, "We appreciate the support we've received from librarians and the wholesalers that supply them. Without their support, our recent growth would have been impossible. With an imprint whose editorial and marketing team focuses on the needs of librarians and library patrons, we expect further growth and an even closer working relationship with the library community."
Carrel Books will be headed by Niels Aaboe, who arrived at Skyhorse in 2012 with more than two decades of educational, academic, and general-interest publishing experience. Aaboe commented, "I'm looking forward to launching Carrel's first list in fall 2014. Carrel will offer an eclectic mix of titles in terms of subject areas, but each book will be tailored to the needs of librarians and their patrons: authoritative, well-written, and accessible."
Carrel will be the tenth Skyhorse imprint, joining Skyhorse, Sky Pony Press, Arcade Publishing, Allworth Press, Sports Publishing, Not For Tourists, Gary Null Publishing, Helios Press, and Night Shade Books. Since its founding in 2006, Skyhorse has published over 2,500 titles and has had seven New York Times bestsellers. Beginning on January 1, 2014, all Skyhorse imprints will be distributed to the book trade in the U.S. by Perseus Books Group. Skyhorse is distributed in Canada by Thomas Allen & Son.
