LinguiSystems Integrates Sheridan’s Publisher Connect Technology to sell eBooks
Feb. 19, 2013, Chelsea, MI – LinguiSystems, a publisher serving speech language pathologists throughout the United States and Canada, partnered with Sheridan Books for the technology that would enable them to sell ebooks from the existing e-commerce platform on their website — expanding the format options available to their consumers.
“The publishing world is changing and we want to support our customers with new products, formats, and tools that help them experience greater success in the classroom” remarked Jim Johnson, Director of Production at LinguiSystems. With an existing eCommerce site already in place, it was important that the new system did not compromise the current shopping cart experience. That’s one of the reasons LinguiSystems selected Sheridan’s Publisher Connect platform to host, protect, and distribute eBooks to their customers. Additionally, LinguiSystems was able to leverage the technology built by Sheridan to put a solution in place quickly and cost effectively. eBooks are hosted in a secure location and are protected using Sheridan’s Digital Rights Management system, powered by Adobe Content Server. Customers can now purchase eBooks from LinguiSystems’ website and access an archive of their purchases for easy download.
Johnson commented, “Having worked with Sheridan Books on the print side, when we became aware of their Electronic Content Services (ECS) offering, we knew they would approach ECS the same way they do print, with the expertise and professionalism that we rely on and require. We enjoyed the opportunity to partner with Sheridan Books to help us bring our electronic downloads to the marketplace. We know our customers will love the new format.”
Marie Ketner, Technology Manager at Sheridan Books said, “LinguiSystems had already developed an online community with their readership and it was important to add eBooks to their suite of products
without disrupting the online experience. Publisher Connect is a seamless integration that allows for real- time eBook fulfillment, providing another channel through which to interact with their customers.”
