(Press Release) Hunt Valley, MD—Sheridan's magazine, journal, catalog, and book companies now offer Quick Response (QR) Code technology to clients interested in enhancing their print publications with multimedia options.
QR codes—smart device readable two dimensional matrix codes—are instantly "read" by smart mobile phones equipped with free downloadable scanner software. Once the code is accessed, the scanner software directs the smart device to receive information that is linked to the QR code, such as a website, additional content, a video, survey, or special promotion.
Sheridan companies create the barcodes and print them in a specified location within their clients' publications. Sheridan also provides "text to" instructions to enable access to the information for those without scanner software capability on their smart device.
QR codes enhance traditional print by creating an interactive, multimedia experience with readers, allowing both advertisers and publishers to realize additional revenue opportunities. "Our customers are using our Print-to-Mobile QR Codes in a variety of creative and instructional ways," said Mark Witkowski, Vice President of Technology at The Sheridan Group. "We are happy to help them not only significantly augment their print products, but to assist them with their growing interactive media needs. The Sheridan companies are committed to creating technologies that enhance publishers' revenues or reduce their costs."
