-BISG and Bowker both presented results of recent studies. Bowker's Sharon Lubrano's data-rich presentation included stats on the growth of ebook sales (they're now 23% of all books sold, eating away primarily at mass paperbacks early on and then hardbacks); in-store display is still the key awareness factor for print books, while personal recommendations fill that role for ebooks; and that 39% of ebook purchases in 2012 were for a Kindle device, down from 44% in 2011. BISG's Vlahos gave a snapshot of the typical "power buyer": an urban female between 30 and 44 years old, and noted that ebook genre preference—wherein readers prefer some genres to others for ebooks, is disappearing.
