Balboa Press' "Cultured Food Life" Acquired by Hay House Publishing
BLOOMINGTON, IN--Balboa Press, a division of Hay House Inc., and leading self-publisher of personal empowerment books, today announced that author Donna Schwenk's holistic health book, "Cultured Food Life," has been acquired for publishing by Hay House, Inc. Schwenk's book joins a growing list of Balboa Press titles to be acquired by traditional publishers, which includes Gerry Gavin's "Messages from Margaret," Bronnie Ware's "The Top Five Regrets of the Dying" and Karen Noe's "Through the Eyes of Another."
Donna Schwenk began working with probiotics and fermenting her own foods in 2002. "My family and I were facing serious health problems including diabetes, high blood pressure and irritable bowel syndrome, and I was desperate for a natural solution to our problems," said Schwenk. "After doing some research, I started fermenting foods and incorporating them into my family's diet. The results were astounding, everyone's health improved dramatically, and I realized that this was something I needed to share with everyone I possibly could."
After several years of teaching cooking classes, blogging and holding seminars, Schwenk decided to write "Cultured Food Life," and made the choice to publish it with Balboa Press. Following the advice of her marketing consultant, Schwenk attended Hay House's "I Can Do It!" Pasadena conference and placed her book in the on-site bookstore. "Donna's book sold out in the first day of the event, and interestingly, it was also the highest-priced title. We were astounded," said Gail Gonzales, director of marketing at Hay House, Inc. "Donna had developed a very strong web presence on her own; she had how-to videos and very active social media accounts. She was absolutely perfect for Hay House, and if she hadn't been at 'I Can Do It!', we may have never noticed."
"Cultured Food Life" will be available this fall from Hay House, Inc.
