Book Retailers to Discuss How to Thrive in an Amazon-Dominated Industry at #Digibook
The highly anticipated Digital Book Printing Conference is fast approaching. Next week, November 19th, Book Business will be at the New York Marriott Marquis, discussing the challenges and opportunities that come with the rise of digital book printing. The day will be filled with education and networking opportunities for book publishers, manufacturers, and retailers, making it the only event of its kind to bring together such diverse members of the industry.
One of the most provocative panels of the day will gather top book retailers and experts to discuss the disruptive player in the book industry -- Amazon -- and explore how publishers and authors can compete. Joining the panel is a long-time friend and advisor of Book Business, Michael Norris, who consults on media and retail. Norris has worked previously at Simba Information where he analyzed consumer information on book and ebook purchases and launched such successful reports as Trends in Trade Book Retailing, Trends in Ebook Publishing, and The iPad and Its Owner.
Recently Norris wrote a column for of Book Business, "Minding the Bookstore Redux," which discusses the unique and daunting task publishers face in revitalizing the bookstore and countering Amazon's influence. The column, which can be read here, provides a taste of what attendees can expect on November 19th.
